Philadelphia's small businesses, particularly those with revenues under the $250,000 mark, are in for some relief when navigating the labyrinth of tax preparation. The city is rolling out a free tax assistance program tailored to these modest earners, which could alleviate the burden on numerous entrepreneurs struggling to decipher tax codes and regulations, per the City of Philadelphia.
As announced, the Philadelphia Business Tax Assistance program is an initiative designed to streamline the tax preparation process for local businesses. The program, managed by the Philadelphia Department of Commerce, lays out clear criteria for eligibility: businesses must be either based in Philadelphia with a physical business address or, if home-based, must reside in the city and have capped their revenue at $250,000 in 2024. However, landlords and property rental businesses should take note, they're not included in this helping hand. Sign-ups for notification upon the program's launch are currently open.
The support isn't just about dishing out generic advice, but it's set to be a personalized service with vetted accountants who can converse in multiple languages, including Spanish and Mandarin. This linguistic inclusivity ensures a wider range of businessmen and women can get the assistance they need in a most comprehensible manner. The program's flexibility is evident, as services will be accessible in person and virtually, catering to different preferences and needs.
