Tarrant County residents have a new opportunity to safely dispose of personal documents and contribute to environmental sustainability this week. Commissioner Alisa Simmons is hosting a Free Community Shred Day on Saturday, July 26, welcoming the public from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. In a statement obtained by the Arlington city news website, Simmons emphasized the initiative’s dedication to resource management and the well-being of families and small businesses in the area.
Those looking to clear out clutter without compromising security can bring up to two boxes of paper to be shredded. Operating out of two simultaneous locations, the event is planned, providing ease of access for residents across Tarrant County. Having two availabilities for the disposal of sensitive documents, this option accommodates many residents' busy schedules.
According to the City of Arlington news article, acceptable items for destruction include a variety of documents such as canceled checks, medical records, credit card offers, past utility bills, old tax returns, and junk mail. However, electronics are off the table – no electronic items will be accepted at this event.
Shredding services will be set up at both the Tarrant County Sub Courthouse on 700 E. Abram Street in Arlington and the Tarrant County Sub Courthouse on 1100 E. Broad Street in Mansfield.
