Wake Forest residents can be a part of caring for their community and personal privacy with a free Paper Shredding Event scheduled on Monday. In an effort to prevent identity theft and encourage responsible disposal of confidential documents, the Town of Wake Forest is inviting locals to E. Carroll Joyner Park, located at 701 Harris Road, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for this community service. The event is proudly sponsored by Skylift Garage Doors.
In a statement obtained by the Town of Wake Forest, organizers announced a drive-thru system that will facilitate the drop-off process. Participants can enter through the main entrance of Joyner Park and can find a new way to exit, keeping the traffic moving for those dropping off their shredding materials or visiting the park.
Considering the environment, all documents will be shredded on site and later recycled. The Town of Wake Forest encourages individuals to remove plastic and metal items from their paper materials ahead of time to ensure a clean recycling process. Each household or business is limited to four “banker-box” sized boxes or four large bags and a solitary trip for each household to maintain fairness to all those attending.
For anyone planning a leisure visit to the park during the event, it is recommended by the organizers to use the Joyner Park Community Center entrance to avoid the shredding event traffic. This entrance is conveniently situated west of the park's main entry point.
Wake Forest has made plans for another Paper Shredding Event later in the year, set for November 17 at the same venue. Whether you're looking to safeguard your personal information or simply tidy up your filing cabinet, this free event could be just what you need. Further details on the event can be found on the Town of Wake Forest's official website.
