A man faced arrest in Ramona after allegedly using a metal pole to threaten and rob a resident yesterday. According to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office, at around 8:30 AM, the victim, who was disposing of his trash at Terre at Oak Apartments on the 100 block of 14th Street, was confronted by Ruben Jimenez Jr., born April 6, 1985. Jimenez is said to have demanded the resident's wallet by brandishing the pole threateningly.
The victim complied, giving his wallet to Jimenez, who then proceeded to leave the area quickly. The incident prompted the victim to call 9-1-1 and later identify Jimenez outside a Bank of America on the 1400 block of Main Street, where he courageously notified authorities of his assailant's location. Deputies from the Ramona Sheriff's Substation were able to respond swiftly and apprehended Jimenez.
Following the arrest, Sheriff's Detectives served a search warrant at Jimenez's home. They were able to recover not only the vehicle believed to be used during the robbery but also the weapon used and the victim's wallet. The tools of Jimenez's alleged crime were taken as evidence, possibly to lay bare the narrative of the morning's events before the law.
Jimenez is now facing charges of both robbery and resisting arrest. He was booked at the San Diego Central Jail, waiting for the justice system to begin to parse through the charges heaped against him.
