The downtown area of Redwood City has seen a series of vandalism incidents, with fourteen businesses reporting window damage over a day between last Saturday and on Sunday. Each of the vandalized windows bore the mark of a single letter "R" scratched into the glass, a letter that would eventually lead to an arrest. According to the Redwood City Police Department, surveillance footage from the affected businesses captured the image of the suspect.

It was the sharp eye of one of the victims that enabled the police to make an apprehension yesterday. While on patrol at around noon, officers were flagged down by a business owner who spotted the suspect in the area. The suspect, later identified by police as Roman Leoncontreras, matched the person seen in the surveillance videos defacing property.

Police arrested Leoncontreras without any trouble. In addition to the charges for felony vandalism, he faced an unresolved warrant. Leoncontreras now faces multiple charges and was booked into the San Mateo County Jail, including felony vandalism and the outstanding warrant. The investigation remains ongoing, and the police urge anyone with further information to contact Sergeant Figueroa at (650) 780-7621.
