Isaias Aroldo Contreras, 26, of Sacramento, was sentenced to five years in prison for possession with intent to distribute fentanyl. The sentence followed a search of his home on January 5, 2023, which led to the discovery of a large amount of fentanyl-laced pills made to look like oxycodone "M-30" pills, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

During a raid by the Drug Enforcement Administration, agents found a loaded Glock 9 mm pistol, a money counter, and $31,154 in cash hidden with custom diamond jewelry, including a diamond-encrusted Rolex watch, at Contreras’s home. The cash and jewelry were ordered to be forfeited. Messages on Contreras’s cellphone, dated from March 2020 to December 2022, showed drug trafficking activity involving counterfeit M-30 pills and cocaine in kilogram quantities, as reported by the U.S. Attorney's Office.

The case involving Contreras was investigated under the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces, a program that brings together multiple agencies to target major drug trafficking networks. Agencies such as Homeland Security Investigations and the Sacramento Area Intelligence/Narcotics Task Force worked together to investigate and prosecute the group. The effort focused on stopping the distribution of fentanyl and other opioids, as stated by the U.S. Attorney's Office.
