The City of Sacramento recently published a report detailing its actions regarding homelessness from July 7 to July 13. According to the city's Sacramento City Express, a total of 801 calls concerning unsheltered individuals were made to the city's 311 customer service in that period.
The Incident Management Team (IMT), tasked with addressing the concerns raised in these calls, managed to close 1,065 reports. The report explains that a call is considered closed when the issue is remedied, compliance is effectively achieved, or if the reported issue no longer exists by the time staff inspect the site, as reported by the Sacramento City Express.
One significant effort highlighted in the report includes the work by the City’s Department of Community Response, which reportedly enrolled 108 people into shared local databases to match them with shelters and other resources. Moreover, the report notes that 27 people were housed at city's facilities: the Roseville Road campus and the Outreach and Engagement Center (OEC). As of the middle of the month, the Roseville Road campus had one trailer left and no Pallet homes available, with the OEC having five spaces open. Additional city-funded shelters reported an average of 16 openings, as detailed by the Sacramento City Express.
On the environmental front, the City made sure to also clean up 100,880 pounds of trash, which indicates a necessary and ongoing commitment to not just temporarily displace, but also to properly manage the waste associated with homelessness. As the city continues these efforts, a data dashboard has been maintained to allow the public to track the IMT's progress, including cumulative tallies for outreach, compliance, and cleanup, that date back to September 2023, as per the Sacramento City Express. Those interested in reviewing the full extent of the IMT's weekly activities can access the 7.07-7.13 IMT Data Report for more detailed information.
