Sammamish residents might need to budget a little extra commute time this month. The city is undergoing several infrastructure projects, with a range of traffic disruptions expected. One such project, as detailed on the city's official website, involves the inspection and cleaning of stormwater pipes at multiple locations including Issaquah Fall City Rd and Klahanie Blvd.
The work for the stormwater project is slated for July 17-18 and should pose only "minimal" traffic interruptions, according to the announcement. Drivers can anticipate occasional single-lane closures, but with proper signage and traffic control, the inconvenience should be nominal. Also, on the calendar are pavement overlays by Lakeside Industries, which started on Monday, June 30, and will extend through Thursday, July 31 — expect some lane closures and flaggers directing the flow during their working hours.
Night owls will encounter different disruptions, notably on Louis Thompson Road between 9 pm and 6 am, for Comcast's relocation of fiber optic lines from July 7 - July 11. Only local access will be permitted during these times, so rerouting will be necessary for most traffic, the city advises.
Accessibility improvements are also in the mix with the 2025 ADA Barrier Removals initiative. Workers will replace damaged sidewalk panels and pedestrian curb ramps over a stretch from July 14 to August 22, with the anticipated byproduct of right lane closures during business hours. Despite these obstructions, traffic control measures promise to maintain a semblance of normalcy in the daily commutes.
Lastly, Ziply Fiber's restoration work, which follows previously completed construction, is currently the only activity allowed by the city after their permits were suspended. The tech company will be focusing on tasks like "soft surface replacement, asphalt patching, and sidewalk replacement," as per the municipal site's news release.
