San Antonio is gearing up for a week of steadily climbing temperatures, according to the latest weather forecasts. A report from the National Weather Service (NWS) indicates that following a mostly cloudy start today, the city can expect a gradual clearing with a peak temperature hovering near 97 degrees. The heat index, a measure that combines air temperature and relative humidity, might rise as high as 100. "South wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph," adds further warmth to the forecast.
With nightfall, residents can look forward to a respite, albeit a warm one, as the skies clear up. "Mostly clear, with a low around 74," the NWS forecast reads, ensuring that there will be little cooling for anyone stepping out and basking under the stars. The southeast wind retains its presence, blowing at 5 to 10 mph and featuring gusts potentially reaching 20 mph.
Residents hoping for a reprieve will not find one in the coming days. The NWS foresees a pattern of "mostly sunny" skies through to the weekend, with Thursday and Friday set to be particularly sizzling. Highs are expected to be near 96 and 94, respectively, with the southeast wind continuing to gently stir the hot air. Each evening follows a similar pattern: partly cloudy with low temperatures in the mid-70s.
By the weekend, the narrative remains unchanged—San Antonio will be drenched in sunshine and heat. Saturday's NWS forecast anticipates a high near 95, while Sunday and Monday promise temperatures inching ever closer to the century mark. The southeast wind, accompanying the sunshine, retains its grip on the city, delivering 5 to 10 mph breezes, with Sunday likely to see gusts up to 20 mph. "Mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 99," predictions hold for both Monday and Tuesday, leaving little doubt of the scorching days ahead.
