In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking within the Bay Area, the San José Police Department has brought a large-scale narcotics operation to a halt. The bust, which resulted in the arrest of 32-year-old San José resident Devon Sim, followed an extended investigation that targeted the suspect for some time.
According to an announcement by the San José Police Department, Sim was apprehended after search warrants were carried out last Wednesday at two residences. Assisting in the dismantling of the operation, having a street value of drugs estimated at $4 million, were the SJPD Violent Crimes Enforcement Team, the Street Crimes Unit, and the Covert Response Unit. A pile of cash totaling $85,000 was found during the raids, alongside the narcotics.
The retrieved drugs were substantial and included approximately 72 pounds of cocaine, 2.5 pounds of crack cocaine, 1 pound of MDMA, and a dangerous ounce of fentanyl. The value of the narcotics seized indicates that this was no marginal player in the drug market, but a significant operation feeding the streets with illegal substances.
Following his arrest, Sim now faces charges given the severity of the items found, related to possession, sale, and transportation of illegal narcotics; they were booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail.
