A tragic hit-and-run incident has left a pedestrian dead in the Eagle Rock neighborhood of Los Angeles, sparking an active search for the driver responsible. According to KTLA, the collision occurred shortly after 5 a.m. on Tuesday near Colorado Boulevard and West Broadway. Upon arrival, first responders discovered the victim fatally injured in the roadway, their identity yet to be disclosed.
Officials have not described either the suspect or the vehicle involved, leaving pressing questions hovering over a stunned community. The perpetrator left without rendering aid, noted a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson in a statement obtained by KTLA. Scene investigations were hampered by the early morning hour, complicating efforts to grasp clues leading to the driver's apprehension.
The area around the accident, a bustling intersection not far from the Eagle Rock Plaza shopping mall, was sealed off for investigation as aerial footage from SkyFOX displayed the white pop-up tent marking the tragedy's immediate aftermath. As reported by FOX LA, the tent shrouded the victim's body while a thorough examination of the crash scene took place.
No suspect information has been shared publicly, and it remains unclear what led to the deadly event. A bus present near the scene at the time of the investigation was later cleared of any involvement, as specified by authorities to CBS Los Angeles. Traffic adjustments were necessary, with LA Metro rerouting bus lines 81, 217, and 251 onto El Verano Avenue between Colorado and Broadway until 10 a.m., to circumvent the ongoing police activity.
