In a recent crackdown on drug activity, the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office made a significant bust at a north Santa Rosa hotel. Yesterday, deputies were alerted by hotel staff to two men, identified as Carlos Valdivia Muro, 37, of Windsor, and Andrew Ramirez, 36, of Fresno, who were found unresponsive and past their checkout time. What seemed to be a routine welfare check turned into a substantial narcotics investigation, unveiling a stash of illegal substances and firearms.

According to the Sonoma Sheriff's social media post, upon searching the hotel room, detectives seized around eight pounds of methamphetamine and a firearm.

The investigation quickly escalated, leading to a search warrant for Muro’s vehicle and residence, which revealed additional methamphetamine and another firearm. This discovery added to the seriousness of the case, resulting in multiple felony charges for both Muro and Ramirez. Muro's charges included possession of a loaded firearm while possessing methamphetamine, possession of firearms and ammunition by prohibited persons, and possession of methamphetamine for sale while Ramirez, already on felony probation out of Fresno County, additionally faces a charge for violating probation. The two men are currently being held at Sonoma County Jail, with bail set at $30,000 each.
