A Southaven man, aged 59, was swiftly incarcerated on charges of possessing child pornography following a tip-off, authorities said. Acting on information provided by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, detectives with the Southaven Police Department pinpointed the source of explicit images to the 8000 block of Chesterfield Drive, as reported by Action News 5. The suspect, John W. Pummill, was taken into custody and booked at the DeSoto County Jail promptly around noon on the same day.
Upon receiving the tip yesterday, Southaven detectives launched an investigation that led them to a residence where they identified Pummill as the suspect. Although no bond information has been made available at this time, Pummill's arrest was effected, and it was affirmed by a social media post from the Southaven Police Department.
According to a separate article from WREG, while an official mugshot was not immediately available, the police had nonetheless concluded their investigation with Pummill's arrest.
Details on the ensuing legal process for Pummill, who faces serious charges, including possession of child pornography, are still emerging in this ongoing case. The timeliness of the local police force's response in conjunction with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children plays a crucial role in addressing and halting the propagation of such illegal materials, as evidenced by the rapid arrest following yesterday's revealing tip.
