St. Peters residents and commuters, prepare for a series of traffic delays this week due to significant signal work at key intersections. According to an official release from the City of St. Peters, aging traffic signal controller cabinets will be replaced with newer, more dependable ones as part of the Gateway Green Light program.
The traffic signals at Spencer Road/Willott Road, Jungermann Road/Sutters Mill Road, Jungermann Road/Country Creek Drive, and Salt Lick Road/Spanish Trail Drive will be non-operational for specific periods between yesterday and Thursday. During these times, the intersections will serve as all-way stops, which could cause delays, so drivers are advised to plan for extra travel time or seek alternate routes. Throughout the replacement process, temporary stop signs will be installed at these intersections.
Here's the schedule for the upcoming signal maintenance: Spencer Road/Willott Road had its signals down on July 14 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Jungermann/Sutters Mill intersection is scheduled for today, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Following that, Jungermann/Country Creek intersection will be an all-way stop tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and finally, Salt Lick Road/Spanish Trail Drive will undergo work on Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Commuters are urged to follow warning signs, and exercise caution when driving through these construction areas. The improvements form part of a cooperative effort to enhance traffic signal coordination across St. Charles County, ultimately aiming to facilitate smoother traffic flow and reduce congestion.
