A Stillwater resident faces multiple federal charges involving child pornography and aggravated sexual abuse, as announced by U.S. Attorney Robert J. Troester. Lee Grant Clark, aged 78, has been indicted on two counts of production of child pornography, alongside individual counts for receipt, possession of said material, and the aggravated sexual abuse of minors. Detailed in a press release from the U.S. Attorney's Office, the indictment followed an investigation that started with the FBI's scrutiny of a computer user soliciting child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
October of last year marked the beginning of this investigation when FBI agents traced CSAM-seeking activity on a file-sharing website back to Clark's IP address. In cooperation with the Stillwater Police Department, the FBI's attention was drawn to alleged sexual abuse incidents dated around 2004 involving Clark. After having been charged with such heinous crimes, anyone with additional insights or allegations against Clark is encouraged to contact the FBI at [email protected], an action that has been prompted by the federal agents.
Amidst the serious nature of these allegations, it is critical to remember that they serve only as charges at this stage. According to the principles of justice, Clark is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. If convicted, however, Clark could face life in prison and might be subject to fines reaching up to $250,000 for each count.
The incident fits into a broader effort known as Project Safe Childhood (PSC), a Department of Justice initiative focused on eradicating child sexual exploitation and abuse. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jordan Ganz serves as prosecutor in this case, which involves coordination between the DOJ's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, local law enforcement, and U.S. Attorney's Offices to bring perpetrators to justice and assist victims.
