In a somber development in Jacksonville, the local sheriff's office reported on a case that has rattled a Westside community. Yesterday morning, Jacksonville Sheriff's Office deputies arrived at a residence on Manotak Avenue after being summoned to address a domestic dispute. There, they discovered a 41-year-old man, identified as Waduta Woodley, with severe blunt force trauma injuries. Despite the swift arrival of the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department, Woodley succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The ensuing investigation, led by JSO Homicide and Crime Scene Unit detectives in cooperation with the State Attorney's Office, honed in on 21-year-old Journee McGrew as the prime suspect. While combing through evidence and conducting witness interviews, detectives pieced together their case against McGrew. They arrested her later on the same day and transported her to the John E. Goode Pretrial Detention Facility, where she faces charges of Second Degree Murder and Tampering with Evidence.
