In the quiet of the night, when most of Summit County was asleep, two individuals chose the cover of darkness for their illicit activities. The Summit County Sheriff's Office reported on social media that deputies observed a minivan parked suspiciously near a perimeter fence at Green Middle School. Inside, movement betrayed the presence of the would-be thieves, their actions cloaked not just by night but by a deliberate absence of vehicle lights.
It was after the suspects had left the school's vicinity that their plan unraveled. Deputies conducted a routine stop, finding upon their approach, the van's cargo revealed itself to be copper piping, obviously not the usual fare for a minivan's hold. The scene unfolded on Monday, June 30, shortly after 1 am, according to the sheriff's office. Mistaking the dark for an ally, it was their action of driving off that led them right into the arms of law enforcement.
The suspects, whose identities remain shielded from this report, now find themselves bound by the very system they attempted to pilfer from, their freedom stripped away as neatly as the copper piping they're accused of stealing. They were arrested on charges of Breaking and theft. The Summit County Sheriff's Office post elucidated that they were promptly transported to the Summit County Jail, their actions meriting a swift response from justice.
