Milton Anthony Bradshaw, a 45-year-old Tampa resident, has been sentenced to federal prison for more than a decade after being convicted as a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. The sentencing comes following a jury trial in March, which resulted in his conviction. As reported by the U.S. Department of Justice, U.S. District Judge Virginia M. Hernandez Covington handed down a sentence of 10 years and 5 months to Bradshaw.
It was during the early morning hours of September 20, 2022, that Bradshaw entered into an altercation with three individuals at Manchester Apartments. After the particular got into their car to leave, Bradshaw retrieved a firearm and fired at the departing vehicle from behind a dumpster. Authorities later found a firearm at the scene, according to the DOJ's announcement.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the incident, and surveillance videos helped identify Bradshaw as the shooter. A forensic analysis linked Bradshaw to the weapon, finding a match between his DNA and DNA found on the recovered firearm.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, along with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, investigated the case. Assistant United States Attorneys Michael R. Kenneth and Chelsey Hanson led the prosecution. According to Assistant United States Attorney Suzanne C. Nebesky, which had been involved in handling the forfeiture, the case is a part of the broader effort Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) to reduce violent crime and improve safety in communities.
Project Safe Neighborhoods has been promoted as a collaborative initiative involving law enforcement at all levels and community organizations. As articulated by the Department of Justice, its enhanced violent crime reduction strategy seeks to instill trust in communities, prevent violence before it happens through community support, and employ focused enforcement priorities with measurable outcomes.
