
A traffic collision in Fairmount Village has left a teenage cyclist with serious injuries, the San Diego Police Department reported. The incident, which occurred yesterday at around 4:20 PM, involved a 17-year-old male bicyclist and a 20-year-old male driver at Fairmount Avenue and Dwight Street.
According to the San Diego Police Department's press release, the teenager was riding southbound on the east sidewalk of Fairmount Avenue. As he tried to cross the street within the pedestrian crosswalk quickly, the 20-year-old motorist, who had been waiting to turn right at the red light on Dwight Street, struck the cyclist. The young rider sustained a fractured left femur and a shattered left ankle and had to be transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Officials have clarified that alcohol was not a contributing factor in this accident. The San Diego Police Traffic Division is in charge of the ongoing investigation into this serious injury collision. Officer J.
