Union County's Public Communications Department has been racking up accolades, amassing a total of seven awards from state, national, and international bodies within just a few months, Union County reports. The series of wins underscores the team's effective approach to outreach and community engagement, with innovative campaigns and informational resources that resonate with residents.

"These recognitions are a testament to the exceptional talent and dedication of our team, as well as the strong collaboration we have with our fellow County departments," Liz Cooper, Director of Public Communications, told Union County. Cooper proudly leads a department known for delivering clear, creative, and meaningful information that connects residents to important services and stories.

The international stage shone a spotlight on the department, with two Communicator Awards from the Academy of Interactive & Visual Arts coming their way. The first, an Award of Excellence in General Government, celebrated a video about the Charters of Freedom Displays. The second, an Award of Distinction for Government Campaign, recognized the Lead Prevention campaign, a collaboration with Environmental Health.

Acknowledging the local team's prowess further, the National Association of Counties (NACo) granted Union County two awards in June. The Health Category award celebrated the Lead Safe Campaign, while Meet Us Monday, a social media initiative, won the Civic Education and Public Information Category. Earning these accolades, with their partners in Environmental Health and across social media platforms, Union County Public Communications Department's dedication to public service and its ability to create meaningful connections is clearly impactful.

State-wide recognition followed suit at the NC City & County Communicators (NC3C) annual conference, where Union County bagged three awards. They were honored for Graphic Design for the UC At a Glance infographic, for Website for the Union County Water website created in collaboration with the Water department, and for Brochure depicting the Transportation Riders Guide, alongside Transportation.

"These awards represent the real impact of communications in building trust, sharing resources and strengthening communities," Cooper highlighted in a statement to Union County. She expressed gratitude toward internal partners, County management, and the Board of County Commissioners for their unwavering support.
