Upper Arlington is pressing forward with efforts to make Zollinger Road both safer and more navigable for the droves who traverse it daily. The City of Upper Arlington's latest push involves the Zollinger Road Mobility & Safety Improvement Project, which seeks to enhance the corridor stretching from Riverside Drive to North Star Road—a known hotspot for both locals and travelers.
The endeavor kicked off earlier this month with a Community Open House, where folks were encouraged to not only engage with interactive exhibits but also get their hands metaphorically dirty by participating in activities designed to outline glaring issues and also to help carve out a hierarchy of needs for the area. The scope of this dialogue ran the gamut from mundane road safety concerns to the more nuanced nuances of pedestrianism—in essence, how it feels to be afoot amidst the bustle.
In a continued bid to vacuum up as much resident feedback as possible, the project planners at MKSK have now unfurled an online Opportunities Map alongside a succinct survey. It's all about pooling the community's collective brain trust to envisage a Zollinger Road that's not just a route, but a fluid experience that—ideally—everyone can get behind.
For those who missed the initial call to arms on July 10, this digital platform offers a chance to still actively partake in the city’s strategic revamping of the thoroughfare. The clock, however, is ticking to weigh in, as planners are keen to synthesize the torrent of public sentiment into a plan that can be actioned with both speed and precision. The city is banking on robust public engagement to ultimately render a Zollinger Road that's truly reflective of those it serves.
