In a strategic move designed to bolster its coaching roster, the UTEP Softball team has named Alexis Bandin as its new assistant coach, a hire that's set to infuse the program with a hefty dose of expertise and a track record of success. Bandin, whose resume reads like a how-to guide for crafting winners on the diamond, arrives in El Paso following a spell at Prairie View A&M University, where she played a pivotal role in securing three back-to-back SWAC Western Division Championships from 2023 to 2025, as UTEP News detailed.

T.J. Hubbard, the head honcho for UTEP's Softball program, could barely contain his enthusiasm about Bandin joining the ranks saying, "She's helped elevate every program she's been part of, and her energy and passion for the game will be a huge asset to our team," as per UTEP News, while Hubbard waxed lyrical about his new hire, Bandin herself expressed eagerness to dive in and make her mark particularly with the pitching staff, as she proudly prepares to immerse herself in the El Paso community, her comments echoing the optimism felt throughout the Miners' program.

During her tenure at Prairie View A&M University Bandin not only collected titles, but she also proved to be a maestro of individual player growth, for instance, she directed Cailin Massey to SWAC Pitcher of the Year honors in 2025, topping off a season where Massey and Brielle Moreno snagged coveted All-SWAC spots, all while Bandin's tactical acumen propelled the program to sustained dominance in their conference.

The Miners are banking on Bandin to translate her winning formula to UTEP, and given her track record, it's a safe bet that the experience and insights she brings to the table will start paying dividends sooner rather than later. Before her success at PVAMU, Bandin had been a coaching force to be reckoned with as far back as 2017 when she kicked off her coaching trajectory with the RedHawks Softball Organization and took on multiple roles from head freshmen coach at Mesa High School to a graduate assistant at Shorter University where she not only shaped players but also nabbed a master's degree in sport management.
