Two suspects have been apprehended following a robbery at a Vallejo business on Georgia Street, thanks in part to a GPS tracker hidden amongst the stolen cash. The Vallejo Police Department shared details of the incident and subsequent arrests on their social media.
The robbery occurred last Saturday when one suspect, wielding a firearm, entered the store while his accomplice waited outside. They fled with roughly $300. Officers, aided by the hidden GPS device, could locate the money near Short Street. A perimeter was established with support from the CHP Air Unit, Solano County Sheriff's Office, and American Canyon Police Department. This led to discovering the suspects who tried to hide in residential backyards.
One suspect was found under a truck and surrendered after officers made announcements. The other was apprehended nearby, both without further problems. A background check revealed that they both had prior felony convictions, and notably, one of them lived a stone's throw away from the scene of the crime.
A visit to this nearby residence resulted in findings of a loaded unregistered firearm and clothes that matched the surveillance footage from the robbery scene. The suspect's mother permitted the officers to search her house, where the mentioned items were discovered. The stolen money was then found in a field close to this residence, and both suspects were booked into the Solano County Jail for armed robbery.
