
Earlier this week, Wilmington Police apprehended a 19-year-old man identified as Malikye Boyer on charges relating to firearms and narcotics possession, this arrest occurred during a routine vehicle stop by the Uniformed Services Division.
The incident took place in the early hours of July 18, around 2:39 a.m. near the intersection of West 4th Street and Delamore Place the officers conducted the stop and upon engaging with the passenger, Boyer, they discovered several illegal items including a loaded 9mm handgun reported stolen, another loaded .380 caliber handgun, and a considerable quantity of marijuana approximately weighing 185 grams.
According to the official report, Boyer now faces multiple serious charges such as Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited, Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon, and Receiving a Stolen Firearm these charges reflect the gravity of the offenses and the potential risks associated with firearms and drug offences.
Subsequent to these charges, Boyer was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 20 and has been committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution currently, he is held on a $16,000 cash-only bail which underscores the importance the justice system places on these matters in hopes of maintaining public safety.
