Following a shooting incident in Wilmington, police have apprehended a 25-year-old man named Lamir Crews. The arrest came in the wake of an investigation stemming from a June 27 occurrence where a 23-year-old woman was shot in the 200 block of Stroud Street. According to the Wilmington Police Department press release, she was transported to the hospital and is reportedly in stable condition.
Information provided by the Wilmington Police Department indicates that members of the Uniformed Services Division responded to the scene at approximately 4:05 p.m. that day. Detective John O’Connor of the Criminal Investigations Division took the helm of the case, through which he identified Crews as a suspect. Crews' arrest later that day proceeded without incident.
The charges against Crews are serious: Assault in the First Degree and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony. Following his arraignment in Justice of the Peace Court 11, Crews finds himself committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution. His bail has been set at $100,000, cash-only—a steep sum that speaks to the gravity of the alleged crimes, as per the Wilmington Police Department.
