Wilmington Police Department has confirmed the arrest of a 23-year-old individual after a threatening situation escalated in a residential area last Saturday morning. Ysef Kallam-Crumpler was apprehended following reports of aggravated menacing on the 1300 block of North Broom Street, as residents woke to an unsettling disturbance.
According to an official release by the department, officers were summoned at around 8:18 a.m. to the scene where Kallam-Crumpler was taken into custody. The police found him in possession of a loaded firearm, although, no injuries were reported in relation to the incident. "Responding officers took a suspect, 23-year-old Ysef Kallam-Crumpler, in to custody without incident and recovered a loaded firearm," as the Wilmington Police stated, marking a swift resolution to a potentially dangerous situation.
Following the arrest, Kallam-Crumpler faced charges for aggravated menacing and was ushered through the legal process. The court handling his case set his bail at $2,000, which was secured before he was taken to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution.
The Wilmington Police have not released further details about the motivations behind Kallam-Crumpler's actions, nor have they disclosed information regarding the firearm's origin. "He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 20 and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $2,000 secured bail," as the Wilmington Police noted.
