The Wilmington Police Department has canceled its Community Resource Fair originally scheduled for July 17, citing concerns over dangerously high temperatures. According to the department, a heat advisory is in effect for the area, with forecasts indicating a heat index exceeding 100 degrees.
Officials said the decision was made out of caution for the safety of attendees, staff, and participating organizations. No new date has been announced for a rescheduled event.
The cancellation announcement, brought to public attention via Nixle, emphasizes concern for the "health and safety of all of our partners and attendees."
