A 19-year-old woman has been taken into custody in connection with the murder of Memphis, Tennessee, rapper Project Pat's son, according to officials. Talia Jones was arrested in Minneapolis and is facing charges of facilitation of first-degree murder in the death of Patrick Houston Jr., which occurred earlier this year on January 10. Local Memphis station WREG reported that Jones was apprehended on Tuesday and will soon be extradited to Tennessee.
Details leading up to the arrest indicated Jones had a criminal history, including past charges for theft and aggravated assault. It is reported by FOX13 that court records show Jones was previously involved in a domestic altercation where a knife and hammer were wielded and a subsequent incident of shoplifting. Jones, who did not appear for a court hearing regarding the shoplifting charge, had a bench warrant issued for her arrest.
The shooting that took Patrick Houston Jr.'s life occurred near Ketchum Road in Memphis. While the investigation persisted, the Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force tracked Jones down to Minneapolis. In their pursuit, officials say she initially resisted arrest but was ultimately taken into custody. This detail was confirmed by Action News 5, elaborating on the multi-state effort that led to her arrest.
Facilitation of first-degree murder, the charge Jones is facing, implies that she is accused of knowingly assisting in a murder. However, additional documents related to her alleged involvement in the deadly incident have not been released at this time. The specifics regarding who pulled the trigger in Houston Jr.'s death remain unclear. As the legal process unfolds, Jones remains in custody in Minnesota, with an extradition to Tennessee pending.
