Earlier yesterday, a shooting at a Memphis storage facility left one man critically injured, with local police currently investigating the events that unfolded in the predawn hours. Action News 5 reports that Memphis Police Department (MPD) officers responded to a shooting call at the U-STOR on Winchester Road around 3:40 a.m., where they found the front glass broken and a man bleeding from the neck. A woman, who identified herself as in a relationship with the victim, was attending to his wounds and informed the officers, "I shot him," also indicating where the weapon was located.
Held in custody by MPD, the woman reportedly became uncooperative when placed in the squad car, according to WREG. Despite her irate demeanor, she disclosed further information about the confrontation, sharing that she and the male victim had been in an intimate two-year relationship. Officers arrived at the storage unit on 1355 Winchester Road at 3:35 a.m. and saw the woman holding a white rag to the victim’s neck who was subsequently transported to Regional One Hospital in a critical state.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting that morning draw a stark, albeit incomplete, picture of the lives intertwined at the Whitehaven storage facility. FOX13 Memphis adds a layer to the narrative, stating that the woman and man were not just connected through relationship, but also cohabited at the U-Stor Self Storage. Upon the man’s drunken return, a confrontation ensued, which led to the shooting.
Details remain scarce as the police investigation continues into the violent incident, which has yet to unveil the full story behind what transpired within the storage unit walls. As the woman remains in custody, the local community grapples with the tragic event, and local police urge anyone with information to contact CrimeStoppers at 901-528-CASH. The man, found bleeding outside the storage facility, was rushed to the hospital as reported by MPD, with his condition remaining critical after the early morning altercation.
