The four-year-old case of a fatal shooting outside a Pittsfield Township restaurant has seen a breakthrough with an arrest and charges levied against an Ypsilanti Township man. Marvin Ramirez Sullivan, aged 33, is facing allegations of open murder, felony firearm, and carrying a concealed weapon in connection with the 2021 shooting that resulted in the death of 35-year-old Deryl Timothy Banks, CBS News Detroit reports.
Officials indicated that Banks, after being shot, managed to drive himself to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries later on, the incident occurred immediately following a verbal altercation between Banks and two suspects at the Ichiban Japanese Steakhouse on Washtenaw Avenue, Sullivan was arraigned last Friday and he was denied bond, FOX 2 Detroit notes.
The investigation, still active, has been a joint effort by the Pittsfield Township Police Department and the Washtenaw County Prosecutor's office. The police have taken strides in piecing together the events that led to Banks's demise, and with Sullivan’s arrest, there appears to be some closure on the horizon for those impacted by the tragedy, as conveyed by the clickondetroit.com coverage of the case.
