A Yucca Valley High School teacher has been swept into the limelight after being arrested for the alleged embezzlement of funds from the school's Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). Ariana Rodriguez, 34, is facing accusations of funneling over $8,500 from PTO accounts over a span of two years. The report of these unauthorized withdrawals was initially lodged by an observant PTO member on June 18th.
According to the KTLA, Rodriguez, who was responsible for overseeing PTO accounts, was apprehended by authorities on July 2nd and currently remains in custody at the Morongo Basin jail on a $30,000 bail. The San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department, under the guidance of Shannon D. Dicus, confirmed the arrest in a separate statement, noting that the ongoing investigation had determined the alleged embezzlement activities.
Morongo Unified School District reacted swiftly to the allegations, placing Rodriguez on administrative leave and affirming their full cooperation with law enforcement in a statement obtained by KTLA.
