Anne Arundel County Circuit Court found Christopher Steven McGee guilty of second-degree rape of a 12-year-old child. The verdict came after a three-day bench trial presided over by Judge Pamela K. Alban, who rendered her decision this past week. Sentencing is set for mid-September.

"This Defendant's behavior is both shocking and disturbing in how he manipulated a young vulnerable girl to believe that they were in love," State’s Attorney Anne Colt Leitess said in a statement obtained by the Anne Arundel County website. The prosecution's case highlighted McGee's prior offense of molesting another 12-year-old in Texas, yet he reoffended despite previous punishment and sex offender registration.

Back in December 2023, the Anne Arundel County Police Department commenced their investigation into McGee, who was at that time 34 years old, engaging in sexual misconduct with a minor. McGee was involved in the child's life, as the stepfather of the victim's boyfriend, exploiting his position to establish a predatory connection.

Assistant State’s Attorney Sean Fox, representing the state, brought forth concrete evidence against McGee, including a photograph of him kissing the young girl and explicit messages on social media platforms. According to the press release from the county, police detectives and Child Protective Services were instrumental in uncovering these acts, assembling a dossier that displayed the severity of McGee's actions, and even located a nude photo of the defendant in the possession of the child.

Sentencing for McGee is scheduled for September 19, where the state will push for a substantial prison term in response to the gravity of his crimes.
