Local aspiring and seasoned authors alike, take note: Anoka County Library is rolling out an opportunity that might just be the platform you need to showcase your literary creations and build a connection with your community of readers, the library has announced it's now accepting applications for its Featured Author program—set to run through the month of September 2025, writers have the chance to apply starting September 1st and they've got until the 30th to throw their hats in the ring for consideration.
Those selected for this distinction will not only have their works spotlighted in an author bio on the Anoka County Library website but will also benefit from social media publicity during the popular Winter Reads program in January and February 2026, confirmed in a statement issued by the library. Moreover, Featured Authors are afforded the unique opportunity to sign and sell their books at a Local Author Fair on Saturday, February 28th, 2026, with J. Ryan Stradal delivering the keynote—this will all take place in the fresh confines of the Bunker Hills Activity Center.
The perks of becoming a Featured Author expand beyond a simple book signing or a shoutout on social; the library's program opens doors to collaborate on community events throughout the entire year, giving authors a sustained presence and engagement with their audience. To apply, applicants must submit a biography, author photo, and book cover photo along with a copy of their book for review, which, if accepted, will not only be added to the library's collection but will see additional copies purchased as well.
This initiative underscores Anoka County Library's commitment to fostering a vibrant literary community and supporting local talent, a sentiment echoed by the library's statement on their website, "This is your chance to highlight your book in the local community and connect with readers," indeed offering a spotlight to those whose voices emerge from the page, seeking the ears and imaginations of eager readers within the community.
