The Anoka County Sheriff's Office is extending a helping hand to local residents with a free 'Safeguard Your Savings' workshop. Aimed at empowering communities against the rising tide of financial scams, the event presents a crucial opportunity for individuals, particularly those aged 40 and above, to better protect themselves against cunning fraudsters.
With reports surfacing that educated adults are increasingly becoming targets, the need for such informative sessions has never been more evident, scams no longer discriminate by age or wisdom, it seems anyone can be hoodwinked by what the sheriff's office is calling "the increasing believability of scammers" The workshops are scheduled for Thursday, August 14th at 10:00 a.m. and Wednesday at 5:00 p.m., at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, located at 19001 Jackson St NE, East Bethel, MN 55011.
Participants of the workshop can expect to gain a better understanding of the current scam trends, learn how to spot new scams, and get familiar with the general characteristics of fraudulent schemes. This initiative, according to the social media post by the Coon Rapids Police Department, also offers resources for individuals who have already fallen victim to these scams and includes a question-and-answer session with licensed deputies.
For those unable to attend, the department has made provisions; a link to watch a previous presentation is available at youtu.be/YeUycV6XHSM, this way, no one is left behind in the battle against these fraudulent predators, as they seek to outsmart and outmaneuver unsuspecting individuals from their hard-earned savings; knowledge stands as the first line of defense.
