Arlington sets its sights on major economic expansion as the City Council approves a substantial partnership with E-Space, the global telecommunications and satellite manufacturer seeking to establish its North American headquarters on the west side of the Arlington Municipal Airport. This development is expected to feature a sizable 480,000 square foot manufacturing hub alongside office spaces and additional airport infrastructure, including a new access road slated to connect to the forthcoming MLK Drive. The aim is to strengthen the industrial core and generate over 2,000 tech-forward, high-wage jobs as quickly as possible.
According to a bulletin from the City of Arlington, this project aligns with the Arlington Economic Development Corporation's (EDC) strategy to develop and subsequently lease real estate assets, a move that stands to create community wealth. Projections suggest a windfall of $8 billion in salaries and $27 million in net benefits for Arlington, Tarrant County, and AISD over a 30-year horizon.
In an ode to quality, Arlington recently received the Outstanding Public Drinking Water System Award, distinguishing itself as one of only two water systems recognized amongst 7,000 contenders across Texas. This accolade underscores the city's commitment not only to industrial growth but also to maintaining essential public services at a gold standard.
Citizens should note the upcoming Labor Day schedule. With municipal offices closing on September 1, all Arlington residents will need to adjust their normal waste routines. Monday's trash and recycling services will move to Tuesday, and collection will successively shift forward one day throughout the week. This temporary shuffle ends with Friday collections happening on Saturday, resuming normal service on Monday, September 8. Be sure to strategize your curbside disposal accordingly during this brief interval.
