Arlington's commitment to advancing women's health took a giant leap forward with a generous $500,000 grant from the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation (ATF) to the Texas Health Resources Foundation; the funds are earmarked for extensive renovations at Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital, as announced this past week. Targeting both the Breast Center and Women's Center, the grant leads a significant $9.7 million project designed to modernize these key healthcare facilities and escalate the level of care available for women in the area.
Expressing jubilation and an enterprising spirit, Arlington Mayor Jim Ross, donning the hat of ATF board president, showcased the Foundation's resolve by presenting the sizable check to hospital staff, "All of us at the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation are delighted to have been able to donate the lead gift to this important campaign and jump-start the effort,” Ross said, defining the Foundation's decision as a strategic move to secure continued, top-tier healthcare services for women and families in Arlington and surrounding regions as reported by the City of Arlington. Confirming this sentiment was Blake Kretz, president of Texas Health Arlington Memorial, who outlined that the Foundation's dedication was pivotal in transforming the envisioned renovations into a feasible plan, with particular emphasis on its impact on women's health.
The current Breast Center, a facility dating back to 1985, which annually serves over 9,000 women, will witness a complete overhaul; a reimagined reception area and a dedicated biopsy suite are part of the plan, plus the installation of cutting-edge medical technologies, like a 3D mammography unit and a bone density scanner. On top of these upgrades, aesthetic touches are set to create a tranquil, spa-inspired atmosphere for patients.
Enhancements to the Women's Center comprise a renovated OB emergency department, refurbished labor, and delivery operating rooms, redesigned waiting areas and support spaces, these improvements are slated to hone the patient experience for expectant mothers and their families while reiterating the hospital's vow to provide exceptional care, as of now, Texas Health Resources is injecting over $8 million into the project to see these enhancements happen, with the Breast Center's refresh expected to wrap up in early 2025 and the Women's Center's revamp aiming for a spring 2025 start with full completion anticipated by early 2026. The grant from Arlington Tomorrow Foundation also clinches the naming rights for the Breast Center, cementing its pivotal role in improving healthcare quality in Arlington.
