As the Labor Day weekend approaches, Aurora residents can plan their leisure and errands with the knowledge of which city services will be available and which won't. According to the City of Aurora, various municipal facilities will observe the holiday with closures or adjusted operating hours on Monday, Sept. 1.

For those looking to wrap up official business or hoping to find a good read, they will have to wait as all municipal offices and courts, along with all libraries, will not open their doors. It’s noteworthy, for bibliophiles, that Aurora Public Library has a no late fee policy on overdue items and no holds expire on closed days. On the other hand, outdoor enthusiasts can still revel in the beauty of the Aurora Reservoir from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. or swing by one of the open golf courses, weather permitting, to enjoy a round of golf.

Family plans will also need to take the closures into account. Facilities such as the Aurora History Museum, the Aurora Center for Active Adults, and multiple recreation centers, including Moorhead Recreation Center and Southeast Recreation Center, and Fieldhouse, will be inaccessible. Whisking through the city in a search for activity, the Plains Conservation Center and Morrison Nature Center will also join the list of closed sites.
