
The Tarrant County District Attorney's Office publicly expressed gratitude to the Bedford Police Department for their diligent work following the conviction of Caleb Rothlis. A jury found Rothlis, age 31, guilty of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, resulting in a 25-year prison sentence, according to the Tarrant County District Attorney's Office.
During a violent four-day assault, Rothlis committed multiple acts of brutality against a woman, including strangling and beating her, which lead to broken ribs and injuries to her neck, arms, hands, and back, the severity of these actions underscored by his previous felony conviction for evading arrest/detention, the District Attorney's Office described the nature of the attack and Rothlis's prior criminal background.
The effective collaboration among law enforcement personnel was essential to securing Rothlis's conviction. The case was supported by the efforts of prosecutor Ler Coleman and James Zaleta, with Patrick Knotts serving as the lead investigator and Cece Jones coordinating.
