In an effort to foster stronger ties with the community, Boston Police Department's District E-13 recently convened a 'Community Compstat' meeting in Jamaica Plain, giving the floor to residents, area leaders, and nonprofits to discuss neighborhood concerns and public safety strategies. According to Boston Police Department's news release, the session aimed to showcase the department's ongoing initiatives and receive direct feedback on local issues from those most affected.
During the gathering, data and statistics were shared by police officers, analysts, and command staff members that delineated the department's approach to mitigating issues affecting quality of life and ensuring the safety of the community, yet the gathering was not merely a platform for a one-way transmission of information—community voices were there to be heard. "We were there to listen to the members of the community about what they see as pressing issues in their neighborhood," the department stated, emphasizing a mutual exchange of perspectives.
Participants engaged in a Q&A session that allowed them to express their personal viewpoints, engage in meaningful dialogue with law enforcement, and provide input on the operations within Jamaica Plain. The department expressed its gratitude to those who contributed to the discourse through a public acknowledgement, "Thank you to all who joined us for this important conversation – your partnership plays a vital role in keeping Boston safe."
