In a display of community engagement, officers from the Boston Police Department's District D-14 mingled with residents at the Commonwealth Housing Development in Brighton during their annual Unity Day. The event, which took place earlier, was an endeavor to strengthen ties between the police force and the community they serve.
According to the BPD's official release, the officers spent the day interacting with the local populace, complemented by the distribution of BPD stickers to the attendees. The statement highlighted that the officers "look at every interaction with the community as an opportunity to build trust," which, when rolling out stickers to kids and their families, was a key part of their outreach efforts. Activities like these are often seen as vital steps in bridging the gaps that have historically placed law enforcement at odds with the neighbourhoods they patrol.
