The coffers of Brighton are swelling a bit more these days, thanks to a generous dollop of grant funding from Adams County. In a boon for local park-goers and the outdoor-minded, the city has scooped up over $4 million in grants, as announced by Adams County officials. These funds, pulled from the deep pockets of the voter-approved Adams County Open Space Sales Tax, are set to inject new life into two major park improvement projects within the city's green spaces.
First up is Brighton's RecPlex Phase 1 – Community Park, which is now poised to quickly become the city's latest crown jewel of recreation. With these fresh funds now securely in the bag, residents can look forward to spanking new pickleball courts, an inclusive playground to ensure no child sits on the sidelines, and various other amenities designed to broadly support community activity. Ryan Smith, the man at the city's helm for parks planning, development, and grant management, couldn't be more grateful. "We are grateful to Adams County for this continued commitment to parks and open space," he said, as per the City of Brighton.
But that's not all. The grant is also set to streamline the experience for visitors at Water Tower Park. The park will see improved paths and dedicated parking spaces, aiming to ease the foot traffic and provide safer, more structured access. Smith elaborated on the potential impact these changes will have, noting that such enhancements are "essential for helping turn projects into reality and enhancing our community's parks and open spaces," as obtained by the City of Brighton.
