Charlotte’s Economic Development Department marked the completion of its 10th AMP Up Charlotte cohort. According to the City of Charlotte, the milestone represents a continuation of the program’s role in supporting the development of small businesses in the city.

Launched in 2018, the AMP Up program has now seen 141 entrepreneurs through its comprehensive business accelerator initiative. "Reaching our 10th graduating class is a testament to the entrepreneurial spirit in Charlotte and the city's commitment to lifting up small businesses as a vital part of our economy," Shahid "Sha" Rana, director of economic development, told the City of Charlotte. The recent class graduating, composed of 14 business owners, engaged in the rigorous StreetWise "MBA" curriculum developed by Interise, tailored to support growth through strategic planning and procurement opportunities.

Among the graduates are entrepreneurs from various sectors, including Alexander Arguello of Argüello Family Investments and Lance Carter of Phoenix Management Group LLC, who also served as keynote speaker. The graduation ceremony, which took place on July 15 at Skyline Terrace, celebrated not only the entrepreneurs but introduced their families and program alumni.

According to program data, graduates of the AMP Up curriculum, which combines business development and mentorship, have reported a 24 percent average increase in revenue. In addition, 91 percent of participants indicated their businesses were profitable, and 94 percent said they would recommend the program to other business owners. Rana stated that 77 percent of graduates complete the program with a strategic growth action plan in place.

Those looking to be part of the next generation of AMP Up graduates can anticipate the upcoming recruitment for the 11th cohort. Further information and application details are available on the AMP Up website, or interested parties can reach out to Anika Ellis for queries.
