A somber mood has settled over a once quiet neighborhood in Charlotte following a deadly shooting. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded to an Assault with a Deadly Weapon call early yesterday morning at the 300 block of Lambeth Dr., where they found a victim with gunshot wounds. Despite immediate life-saving attempts, the victim later succumbed to the injuries at the hospital.
With the day barely begun, the CMPD Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Search were already at work, processing the scene and seeking out evidence to piece together the events that led to the individual's death.
Authorities have not yet released the name of the victim or any suspects in connection to the murder. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward as they strive to bring to light the circumstances that led to this tragic event. The CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, and the Charlotte Fire Department also came to the scene, further marking the seriousness of the investigation.
An official statement from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department remarked on the incident, “Officers discovered a victim in the residence that had sustained apparent gunshot wounds.” They are following leads and actively engaging in the investigation.
