Clark County Commissioner William McCurdy II is set to welcome residents at a special event titled “An Evening with the Stars of Foster Care.” It's an initiative that highlights the essential role foster families play in the community and aims to inform interested individuals on how they can contribute. The gathering will be held on Aug. 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Melvin Ennis Recreation Center located at 3720 E. Carey Ave.
In a statement obtained by ClarkCountyNV.gov, Commissioner McCurdy shared his thoughts on the significance of foster parents: “Foster parents are truly the everyday heroes in our community.” The event is not only a celebration but an endeavor to connect more families with the opportunities to impact a child’s life and to build stronger futures for the children and families of Clark County. While the evening is focused on celebrating foster care providers, it’s also a networking arena for those considering to become foster parents themselves.
Attendees of the “An Evening with the Stars of Foster Care” can look forward to panels that include experienced foster parents, sessions that detail out the foster care process, and even on-site fingerprinting services for those ready to take the first step. Adding to the informative nature of the event, a complimentary popcorn social is on the agenda, making for a relaxed environment conducive to learning and celebration.
The event is open to all, regardless of whether they’ve made up their minds about becoming foster parents or are simply looking to learn more about how to support local foster families. Advanced RSVPs are encouraged by the organizers, with registration details available at clarkcountyfostercare.com. Clark County's foster care system acts as a lifeline for hundreds of children in need of temporary or permanent homes due to family challenges, making community engagement and knowledge all the more critical.
