The City of Cleveland and the Ohio Department of Development are calling for public commentary on the environmental review of a new senior housing project in the Hough neighborhood, as announced in a recent public notice. The development, known as Hough Senior Independent Living, is set to be located between East 89th and East 90th Streets in Cleveland, Ohio, and is projected to create 55 units specifically designed for senior living.
Aiming to address the housing needs of the city's aging population, the estimated $19 million project is partially funded through various HOME Investment Partnerships Program contributions. The State of Ohio is pitching in $1 million, the City of Cleveland is offering $630,124, and Cuyahoga County is throwing in an additional $500,000 to support the endeavor. These financial details were released in a public notice on the City of Cleveland's official website.
In line with HUD's regulatory requirements, the Ohio Department of Development is serving as the Lead Responsible Entity, with the City of Cleveland acting as a consulting entity on the project. The public is encouraged to thoroughly review the environmental review records (ERRs) for this project, which are readily available upon request at Cleveland City Hall or through the Ohio Department of Development.
As part of the environmental review process, public comments are not just welcome but are essential to ensure community involvement and transparency. Interested individuals or groups are able to directly submit their feedback by emailing the State of Ohio at [email protected] or the City of Cleveland's Department of Community Development at [email protected]. The aim is to openly gather and consider local insights before moving forward to collectively strengthen and refine the project details.
