The Collierville Police Department has officially introduced its team of School Resource Officers (SROs) for the 2025–2026 academic year. As the new school year approaches, the department is putting its focus on security and community engagement within the schools of Collierville. The announcement by the Collierville Police Department came through an official social media post yesterday, where the department outlined its commitment to "building strong connections with students, staff, and parents while ensuring a secure and welcoming learning environment."
Among the officers listed, Officer Thomas and Officer Fitts are to serve all Collierville Schools, an approach that promises to broadly engage with the community's diverse educational settings. Other SRO assignments include Officer Tigner at Collierville Middle and Officer Bivens at Crosswind Elementary, with specific officers designated to each educational institution. Notably, the Collierville Police Department also has allocated two floating officers to provide extra coverage, thereby aiming to quickly adaptably address any arising concerns.
The SRO program is central to the Collierville Police Department's strategy for comprehensive safety in schools. Lieutenant Felton, the SRO Supervisor, will oversee the program, emphasizing the role of SROs beyond mere surveillance, positioning them as key players in fostering a nurturing atmosphere. Schools covered by the program include Collierville Elementary, Tara Oaks Elementary, Sycamore Elementary, Schilling Farms Elementary, Collierville High, and Bailey Station Elementary, among others.
