Colorado Springs' search for its next set of exemplary young leaders is underway with Mayor Yemi Mobolade's call for nominations for the 2025 Mayor's Young Leader Awards. Revealing opportunities for individuals aged 18 to 40 who reside or work in Colorado Springs, these awards are intended to highlight individuals who have left a positive mark on the community. Excluded from this call are employees of the City of Colorado Springs who must look on as bystanders, unable to be nominated for their professional contributions, no matter how significant they may be.
As reported by the City of Colorado Springs, nominations will remain open until the end of August, specifically until Sunday, August 31. The awards are divided into seven categories, including Community Impact, Creative Industry, Economic Impact, Education, Military Leader, Sports, Health and Wellness, and Technology and Sustainability, each reflecting varied fields where young visionaries can excel and influence change. Winners are set to be honored at an event on November 5 at the Pinery at the Hill.
Looking back, Mayor Mobolade himself was the inaugural recipient in the Community and Economic Impact category when the awards began in 2015, a program initiated by former Mayor Steve Bach. Since its inception, a total of 62 local influencers have been recognized for their efforts to better Colorado Springs in disparate but equally important ways.
