A tragic accident occurred at a BNSF rail facility in El Mirage, resulting in the death of a contract worker. According to FOX 10 Phoenix, the incident happened on Thursday morning when the worker became trapped under a metal plate weighing over 1,000 pounds.
Responding to an agency assist call at around 9:15 a.m., El Mirage Police and fire personnel declared the man dead at the scene after finding the individual under a heavy object. As per a statement obtained by FOX 10 Phoenix, the worker had been conducting tasks on the BNSF property near Grand Avenue and Thompson Ranch Road when the accident happened. The name of the deceased worker, still working, has not been released by police.
In a subsequent analysis of the situation, a BNSF spokesperson released a statement to Arizona’s Family, stating, "We’re aware of the unfortunate incident that happened this morning, however, it didn’t involve a BNSF employee or BNSF equipment." Further details surrounding the circumstances of the accident have yet to be made public.
