In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the Dallas Police Department has intercepted a shipment of nearly 400 pounds of marijuana. The bust, executed by the department's Special Investigations Division (SID) Organized Crime & Racketeering Squad, came on the heels of a tip regarding the incoming narcotics. After locating the storage facility at 4300 Communications Drive, detectives were able to quickly establish probable cause, obtain a search warrant, and sequester approximately 179,081.7 grams of the illicit substance—translating to roughly 398 pounds.
The operation unfolded last Wednesday, when Major Yancey Nelson, the commander of SID, expressed his take on the significance of the seizure. "Anytime we get drugs off the street, it’s a success – and almost 400 pounds of marijuana taken off the street represents a significant success," he remarked, per the Dallas Police Department. This intervention underscores the department's ongoing efforts to disrupt and dismantle the flow of illegal drugs into the city.
In the wake of the discovery, 47-year-old Zhenqi Lin was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana between 50 and 2,000 pounds, a second-degree felony. The seizure and subsequent arrest mark a pivotal moment in the battle against drug-related criminal enterprises. The SID's collaboration with various units within the department played a key role in the investigative process leading to this sizeable confiscation of drugs.
