In a seamless effort of community and law enforcement cooperation, a young black male, believed to be around 16 years old, has been safely returned to his family. The DeSoto Police Department broadcast the update across social media, extending a "heartfelt thank you to the DeSoto community, law enforcement, and everyone who shared the alert." This success story unfolded after the teen, unable to communicate or write clearly, approached an officer at a local QuikTrip early yesterday morning.
The department had issued an alert, which has since proven to be pivotal in swiftly locating the child's family. The initial description indicated the teen was approximately 5’7” and 110 lbs, with a reported name of either Tayvius or Octavius. Their plea to openly help to identify the child rippled through the community, marking an instance where social media was harnessed for an unquestionably noble cause.
According to the official DeSoto Police Department Facebook page, the child had been alone when he initially sought help. The post concluded with visible relief as they announced the successful reunion, crediting the community's attentiveness and prompt sharing of their earlier alert for the positive outcome.
